DESIGN CONSULTANCY

Share with us your ideas or mood boards and we will assist you in making the ideal textile for your brand. The design part involves ideating the collection, designing weaves, and selecting the right yarns to make the fabrics. Our team will closely work in collaboration with you in conceptualizing the design and produce CAD drawings which shall be replicated onto the looms. Scan through our physical swatch books and select base qualities for the fabrics from our archive.

PRODUCTION

All great ideas come to life on our looms. Share with us the designs you would like to create or select from our existing fabric archive and we will make the same for you. Send us color samples or color codes from NS shade card or Pantone to customize the colors.

Points to note:

1. Our minimum order quantity is 60 meters.

2. We use Azo-free VAT dyes for production. All color shades are achievable.

3. Fabrics can be produced in natural dyes on request from our existing natural dye color card.

4. Fabrics can be created in a width of up to 55 inches / 140 cm. The most common width produced by us is 44" for apparel brands.

5. The timeline is generally 30-45 days from the date of order confirmation. The timeline shall vary based on the complexity of the design.

TECHNIQUES

Weaving is a time-honored textile production technique that involves the interlacing of two sets of threads, known as the warp and weft, to create fabrics. The warp threads are typically stretched vertically on a loom, while the weft threads are woven horizontally through them. By carefully manipulating the warp and weft threads in a precise sequence, we create a wide range of fabrics, each with its unique texture, pattern, and characteristics. To create one-of-a-kind fabrics, we use heritage weaves like Jamdani, Kutchi, Ikat, Pattu, and multi-shaft weaves to name a few.

Jacquard weaving

Jacquard weaving is a sophisticated and intricate method of fabric production. What sets Jacquard weaving apart from traditional weaving is its use of punch cards to control the individual warp threads. Each punch card corresponds to a specific thread, allowing for precise and intricate designs to be woven into the fabric. Jacquard allows for m asking very intricate designs and multi-shaft weaves for fabrics which can be used both for making garments as well as home furnishings.

Dobby weaving

Dobby weaving is another fascinating and versatile technique in the realm of textile production. Dobby weaving is renowned for its ability to produce intricate geometric patterns, small motifs, and textured effects with relative ease and efficiency. It is commonly used in the creation of fine fabrics like cotton dresses, shirts, and table linens. Dobby weaving offers a remarkable blend of craftsmanship and automation, allowing for a wide range of creative possibilities in the world of textiles

Extra weft weaving

Extra weft weaving is a weaving technique that adds an extra weft thread to the fabric's structure, allowing for the creation of intricate patterns, motifs, and designs on the textile's surface. Unlike the primary weft thread that passes back and forth through the warp threads to create the fabric's base, the extra weft thread is introduced selectively and woven in to form decorative elements. This technique offers weavers the creative freedom to produce intricate and colorful patterns without changing the entire fabric structure. Extra weft weaving is commonly used in various cultures around the world, each with its unique style and motifs. For example, JAMDANI from West Bengal is used to make intricate motifs on a very thin base, KUTCHI from Gujarat is a bold, geometric weave done in vibrant colours, PATTU from Rajasthan is thick fabric made in bright bold geometric design using extra weft, etc. This weaving method showcases the skill and artistry of the weaver, resulting in textiles that are not only visually captivating but also culturally significant.

Tie - dyed weaving

Artisans tie or bind sections of the warp or weft threads with resists before dyeing them, resulting in areas that resist the dye and others that absorb it, forming unique patterns. Referred to as Ikat weaving, it is a captivating and ancient textile art form that is celebrated for its distinctive and visually striking patterns. The level of complexity in ikat can vary greatly, from simple geometric designs to intricate and elaborate motifs. Ikat fabrics are used in clothing, home textiles, and decorative items.

Hand block printing

Block printing involves the meticulous carving of intricate designs onto wooden blocks, each representing a specific motif or pattern. Skilled craftsmen then dip these blocks into vibrant, natural dyes or pigments before pressing them onto fabric with precise care. The result is a beautifully detailed and unique textile, often celebrated for its imperfections that add character and charm. Handblock printing is not just a craft but a form of artistry passed down through generations, fostering a strong sense of community and tradition.
